School Travel Plan

Darrick Wood School has recently developed a School Travel Plan. The main purpose of this is to promote sustainable and safer travel for the whole School community.
The aims of the Plan are:
- to reduce the number of car trips on journeys to and from School
- to encourage pupils and staff to choose ‘active travel’ options such as cycling, walking and public transport rather than using a car
- to raise awareness of the health benefits of active travel options
- to raise awareness of safety issues arising from active travel options
The benefits of the Plan include:
- less cars and congestion around the School
- healthier and more active pupils, families and staff
- less pollution around the School
- safer walking and cycling routes around the School
- improved cycle storage facilities
